This trip has been on the books for us for a few years now. After spending six weeks in Western Europe (Greece, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France) and the UK in 2009, we wanted to see more of Europe. We began planning an epic rail adventure primarily encompassing Eastern Europe but tossing around ideas of other countries to add on the beginning and end. We sat on the idea for several years til we were situationally and, more importantly, financially able to put it in action. And now, that time has arrived!
The trip involves travelling across three continents, visiting 15 countries in 55 days as follows: Qatar > Egypt > Turkey > Bulgaria > Romania > Hungary > Austria > Czech Republic > Poland > Finland > Sweden > Russia > Mongolia > China > Malaysia.
